This dissertation investigates a Gen-AI based approach to contextual on-demand instructional explanations in computer-based worked examples for learning data science skills. Key contributions of the work will include a deeper understanding of how learners use contextual on-demand instructional explanations within worked examples during various learning activities and new GenAI-based tools for creating such instructional explanations in web-based worked examples.
